It is completely normal to take months off from freediving, healthy even. After all, you have to live your life. However, after months of not being in the water, going back to depth can be intimidating, even for a professional and world-champion freediver like Talya Davidoff.

Most of us have been running or swimming since we were small. But if we had the opportunity to train with an Olympic coach, they would likely first teach us how to run or swim properly. The same is true with breathing. We have been breathing all our lives, but only a few breathe properly and earn the benefits of doing so.

Sometimes freediving is about the experience or the competition. Sometimes, it’s about so much more.
