How to Measure Your Body for a Molchanovs Custom Freediving Wetsuit

Congratulations on the future purchase of your Molchanovs custom freediving wetsuit!

Before taking your measurements:

  • Ask someone to help you take your measurements with a flexible tape measure for more accurate estimations.
  • All measurements should be in centimeters.
  • Take your measurements in a swimsuit (not in undergarments or a t-shirt) to avoid incorrect chest measurements.
  • Long hair should be kept as it would be worn underneath a wetsuit hood. If your hair is not taken into account in the measurements, the wetsuit hood may be too small for your head.
  • While measuring, make sure to lay the tape measure flat against your body, keeping it tight but not too tight.

    Measurements

    1. HEIGHT - Measure your height from the floor to the top (crown) of your head.
    2. HEAD CIRCUMFERENCE - Measure your head horizontally at the widest point, above your ears and eyebrows.
      1. HEAD LENGTH (BASE OF NECK TO FOREHEAD) - Measure vertically from the base of your neck (the 7th neck vertebra) to 2 - 3cm (0.8 - 1.2in) above your eyebrows.
      2. NECK LENGTH - Measure vertically from your lower lip, along your chin, and down to the soft part of your neck between your clavicles (the jugular notch).
    3. NECK CIRCUMFERENCE - Measure the circumference of your neck at the level of the Adam’s apple (or where it would be located on a woman).
    4. CHEST/BUST CIRCUMFERENCE - The measurement should be taken with the chest in a normal position, neither on exhale nor inhale. Measure the circumference of your chest by placing the tape measure horizontally across your chest at nipple level, with the upper edge of the tape measure touching the lowest part of your armpits, crossing your armpits, and around your back.
      1. CHEST/BUST CIRCUMFERENCE ON FULL INHALE - The measurement should be taken with the chest on full inhale. Measure the circumference of your chest by placing the tape measure horizontally across your chest at nipple level, with the upper edge of the tape measure touching the lowest part of your armpits, crossing your armpits, and around your back.
      2. UPPER BUST CIRCUMFERENCE (WOMEN ONLY) - The measurement should be taken with the chest in a normal position, neither on exhale nor inhale. Measure the circumference of your upper bust by placing the tape measure horizontally across your shoulder blades, crossing your armpits, and ending across your chest and above your breasts.
      3. UNDER-BUST CIRCUMFERENCE (WOMEN) - The measurement should be taken with the chest in a normal position, neither on exhale nor inhale. Measure horizontally below your shoulder blades, crossing around your ribcage, and ending in front under your bust.
      4. BUST HEIGHT (WOMEN) - Measure vertically from the base of your neck (where the shoulder begins), down your chest, and to your nipple.
      5. BACK LENGTH (WOMEN) - Measure your back vertically from the base of your neck (the 7th neck vertebra) to your waistline (measurement 5).
    5. WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE - The measurement should be taken with the chest in a normal position, neither on exhale nor inhale. Measure horizontally around your body at your waistline, which is located above your hipbone and at about the level of your belly button. If there is extra weight in your midsection, measure at the greatest circumference.
    6. HIP CIRCUMFERENCE - Measure horizontally around your hips at the widest point of your buttocks. If there is extra weight in your midsection, measure beneath (not over) the belly.
    7. UPPER THIGH CIRCUMFERENCE - Stand upright with your legs placed slightly apart and with your body weight equally distributed on both legs. Locate a point 1/3 of the way down your inner thigh (inseam) from your crotch. Measure horizontally around your thigh at this point.
    8. KNEE CIRCUMFERENCE: Stand upright with your legs placed slightly apart and your body weight equally distributed on both legs. Measure horizontally around your leg, directly over the top of your kneecap.
    9. CALF CIRCUMFERENCE - Stand upright with your legs placed slightly apart and with your body weight equally distributed on both legs. Measure horizontally around the widest point of your calf.
    10. ANKLE CIRCUMFERENCE - Stand upright with your legs placed slightly apart and with your body weight equally distributed on both legs. Measure horizontally at the narrowest point of your ankle, just above your ankle bone.
    11. ARMPIT CIRCUMFERENCE - Lifting your outstretched arm to the side, measure around your arm at the armpit and over your shoulder. While keeping the tape measure in place, lower your arm (the measurement will increase slightly) and record the measurement with your arm down.
    12. BICEPS CIRCUMFERENCE - With your arm relaxed at your side, measure horizontally around the widest point of your bicep.
    13. ELBOW CIRCUMFERENCE - With your arm relaxed at your side, measure around your elbow. Place the tape measure over your elbow crease and bone.
    14. FOREARM CIRCUMFERENCE - With your arm relaxed at your side, turn your palm forward and measure horizontally around the widest part of your forearm (generally a few centimeters below your elbow).
    15. WRIST CIRCUMFERENCE - With your arm and wrist relaxed, measure around the narrowest point of your wrist.
    16. SHOULDER LENGTH - With your arm relaxed at your side, measure from the base of your neck (approximately where the collar of the t-shirt would begin), along the top of your shoulder, and to the outer edge of your shoulder bone.
    17. ARM LENGTH: BASE OF THE NECK TO BICEPS - With your arm relaxed at your side, measure from the base of your neck (the same place as in measurement 16), along your shoulder, over your shoulder bone, and vertically down to the point on your arm where your bicep circumference measurement was taken (measurement 12).
    18. ARM LENGTH: BASE OF THE NECK TO ELBOW - With your arm relaxed at your side, measure from the base of your neck (the same place as in measurement 16), along your shoulder, over your shoulder bone, and vertically down to the point on your arm where your elbow circumference measurement was taken (measurement 13).
    19. ARM LENGTH: BASE OF THE NECK TO FOREARM - With your arm relaxed at your side, measure from the base of your neck (the same place as in measurement 16), along your shoulder, over your shoulder bone, and vertically down to the point on your arm where your forearm circumference measurement was taken (measurement 14).

    21. LENGTH OF INNER PART OF LEG FROM CROTCH TO UPPER THIGH - Stand upright with your legs placed slightly apart and with your body weight equally distributed on both legs. Measure vertically along your inner thigh (inseam), from your crotch to the point of measurement where your upper thigh circumference was taken (measurement 7).
    22. LEG LENGTH: CROTCH TO KNEE - Stand upright with your legs placed slightly apart and with your body weight equally distributed on both legs. Measure vertically along your inner thigh (inseam), from your crotch to the point of measurement where your knee circumference was taken (measurement 8).
    23. LEG LENGTH: CROTCH TO CALF - Stand upright with your legs placed slightly apart and with your body weight equally distributed on both legs. Measure vertically along your inner thigh (inseam), from your crotch to the point of measurement where your calf circumference was taken (measurement 9).
    24. INSIDE LEG LENGTH (CROTCH TO ANKLE) - Stand upright with your legs placed slightly apart and with your body weight equally distributed on both legs.
