Tauchsee Horka, Saxony, Germany, 24 June 2024 - AIDA Germany e.V. celebrated 25 years of AIDA Germany with a 2-day freediving festival in Tauchsee Horka.
Location
On June 21 - 23, 70 freedivers came together for freediving workshops, lectures, networking, and plenty of diving in the waters of Tauchsee Horka. The lake features 37m (121ft) of depth and up to 20m (66ft) of visibility. It has an underwater forest, sunken artifacts, and hidden prizes at its bottom for freedivers of all levels to find throughout the festival. The inaugural large-scale gathering also included camping, barbecuing, childcare, and a fun competition open to everyone.Competition
The just-for-fun competition was held to inspire future athletes to dive competitively. AIDA Judges Monika Hopf and Ute Gessmann watched on as 14 freedivers, both experienced and novice, were challenged to hold their breaths for predetermined times or dive to fixed distances and depths as closely as possible. This inclusive event aimed to introduce participants to AIDA standards, foster safety awareness, and encourage competitive participation.Sponsored by Molchanovs
The team of experienced safety divers was outfitted with SPORT Bifins Carbon, CORE Silicone Weight Belts, CORE Freediving Masks, and CORE Freediving Snorkels, all sponsored by Molchanovs. Winners received Lightweight Poncho Towels, CORE Silicone Weight Belts, and EQ Trainers. “I extend heartfelt thanks to Molchanovs for their tremendous support.
