Find current World Record standings for CMAS and AIDA in the table below.

In International Freediving Federations You Need to Know: CMAS vs. AIDA, we discussed the differences between the CMAS and AIDA: two international organizations that have their own educational standards, competition rules, and ratify world records. But one thing was missing from the freediving world - a single page where you could view up-to-date world records from both organizations.

Until now, that is!

On this page, you’ll find the most current AIDA and CMAS World Records, where and when they took place, and their status.

Freediving disciplines we included

There are a lot of freediving disciplines out there - but it’s just not possible to track all of them. So here, we’ll focus only on competitive freediving disciplines that both CMAS and AIDA recognize with similar rules.

Competitive freediving disciplines are disciplines included in official freediving competition programs like the World Championships. When we say similar rules, we mean CMAS and AIDA disciplines with comparable conditions and regulations. So the records we keep track of here will not include speed disciplines, freshwater freediving, under-ice freediving, etc.

How world records are ratified

AIDA and CMAS use the same process when ratifying world records. A world record can be recognized if:
  • The dive is witnessed and verified by an international judge with the appropriate status.
  • The judge is from a different country than the athlete.
  • The athlete passed doping control procedures arranged by WADA.
  • A full, uncut video of the attempt from the beginning until the end of the dive has been submitted and approved by CMAS or AIDA. AIDA also requires a bottom camera footage to be submitted for depth disciplines with the bottom plate and tags clearly visible.

Pending status means that an athlete achieved a world-record level result, but the organization is still waiting on the doping test results.

Help us keep track

We want to track these records to make information about freediving more accessible (and also to make freediving fans’ lives easier!). We’ll update this list of records as often as possible, along with marking the date of the last update for reference.

But we can always use your help! If you see something missing or notice a discrepancy, let us know by emailing a link to the official results page from CMAS or AIDA to asya@molchanovs.com. We’ll double-check the information and update the table accordingly.

It’s so hard to find the CMAS records online. Not even here can I find time.
